HP G60 won't start - only gives factory reset option

I have a g60 on win vista 32 bit, just over 2 years old now, I shut down last night, then started about two hours later and it wouldn't start up, got so far then flicked on a blue screen then cut out, like it was out of power, did this about 3 times before giving the option to either run the repair or start as normal, so I ran the repair, got some options to do a startup repair, full restore and a few others, so did the start up repair, it said the computer may have to restart several times before it's fixed, after the first repair ran, it said to restart and if not fixed then run again, so did a restart and still failed to start up and now the recovery screen is only giving me the option to do a factory reset.

I need to get into my computer because of all my work, please help!

If there is no serious hardware issue, you can get into the computer again after the factory reset, so you can start working again.

One minor problem: you lost all you current work that you forgot to backup. To solve that, boot from an Ubuntu disk (free download and burn, see their site for instructions) and copy all those files to an external disk.

If there's a hardware issue and neither the factory reset nor Ubuntu work, you'll have to take the disk out and try to get to your data on that disk on another PC. If the broken thing is the HD, you'll have to pay a data recovery company to get it back.
Only time will tell what will happen.
