Just hooked up an old motherboard and want to reformat and start over, but my ps/2 keyboard will not work?? Can't get into the bios cause my keyboard isn't working. Drivers for the keyboard are up to date and device manager doesn't show any issues. I can hook up a usb keyboard and that works, but not with the bios. Please help!

In the case of the BIOS there has never been any need for drivers. If this is failing there are common issues with the blown fuse to the PS2 connection on the motherboard, folks the left an extra mounting and bad motherboards.
Again. NO DRIVERS FOR BIOS OPERATIONS.
Did the PS2 lights blink or not?

The PS2 lights only blink when I disconnect the monitor!? Actually even stranger, after I disconnect the power and let it reset for 10 seconds, it will not start unless I disconnect the monitor and reconnect after I start the machine!? But the PS2 keyboard always blinks when I disconnect the monitor!
All that tells me is there is a hard fault.

Did you get out the Volt meter and see if the +5V is good? I see I mentioned the common keyboard fuse so I won't ask you to test that again.
I'll leave you to google for the detail on that.

How do I check the PS2 fuse?? Don't know anything about it? Not a professional! Don't know how to go about using a volt meter, but you think it's a hardware issue?

Otherwise you would not be building a PC. A fuse is checked with the Ohm Meter. The common failure I encountered when PS2 keyboards were king is the blown fuse. Google this.

If you are into repairing this board, that's what you do. If not, toss the board and get another.

Because in some machines the BIOS defaults to something where XP won't boot or drives vanish till you re-enable some controller or setting.
Of course if they have nothing to lose, they don't need to backup.
