USB [flash drive] problem

So I borrowed a USB (4GB) from a friend to install Windows 7. But there seems to be a problem when I insert the flash drive in one of the ports. I have a netbook with Windows 7, and a desktop that runs Linux (Ubunut 12.10).

When I insert the USB in my netbook, it displays only 200MB, on the /:E drive, and offers no alternatives to fix this mistake. But when I insert the USB into my desktop, it's display the 200MB data and another "drive" within the USB called: "Anon's files". When I click on AF's, it displays 3.8GB of data spare. (Note: this is "drive" does not display when inserted into my netbook (WIndows)).

So what would I need to do to fix this problem?

The Windows 7 install from USB has you wipe that drive clean and along the way it will be fixed.

About installing Windows.

You worry me a bit because this issue pales in comparison to what's next. That is, if you could not wipe the drive to put the bootable installer (which is not supported by MSFT or the netbook maker) you could burst into flames as you discover that some dozen drivers and apps are required after you install "Windows."

Why install Windows since you are clearly unprepared.

The easiest answer is to get USB DVD drive

You can buy external DVD/CD drives for around $30. With one of those you could boot from a DVD and do a proper installation like MS intended it to be done. Another approach if you have something on the netbook that will boot up, you could just run the SETUP program from the flash drive.
