Netflix Streaming Distorted

Hi,

I recently purchased a brand new Sony Vaio Ultrabook. Straight out of the box on Saturday and I'm already running into problems.

When I try to view *anything* through Netflix streaming the image and audio become misaligned within a minute of viewing the video in full screen. Meaning, the actors are simply mouthing the words while their audio is delayed by 10+ seconds.

I've been on chat with Sony about this issue and they have not been able to resolve the problem. I know it is not the internet connection because 1.) There's no buffering issues 2.) Load time is nearly instant with no breaks in playback 3.) Different computer using the same connection has no issue streaming Netflix full screen.

Any thoughts? Netflix just asked me to flag videos as having technical problems because I initally thought it was just one video having problems. I've tested 20+ different videos now and there is the same problem every time. Thanks so much for your input!

Hardware acceleration.

I would turn off hardware acceleration. You can do this by following the instructions
Start> Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization> Display> Change Display Settings> Advanced Settings and >Troubleshoot tab>Change Settings.
Sometimes you can right click the video and get to the hardware acceleration option also. However, I'm not sure about Netflix. You can reduce tabs and try to remove conflicting programs to make sure its not a RAM issue.

Thanks for your help & the link! When I view the Troubleshoot tab the option to Change Settings is greyed out?

If you got this for that and it fails, get out fast. Why are you a guinea pig or test bed for their products?

Definitely agree - this is my 4th Ultrabook in as many months though so I'm really trying to work with this one because the return game is getting old! happy

Turned off HD on Netflix and that seems to have cleared up the issue. Not sure of the HD / AV correlation though?

I would have offered this.

"Disable FLASH HARDWARE Acceleration."

If that fixes it, you have an item to beat up the maker with. That issue is well discussed with the root cause being the video drivers.

HD

So I just turned HD Off on the Netflix streaming settings and it appears to now be working correctly. The video quality still appears to be the same. Not sure what the association is between the HD setting & AV problems experienced?
