HP Workstation xw4400 HELP!!

I had just purchased this PC lightly used and it had a Core 2 Extreme quad in there. I had switched it with a core 2 duo, same socket type LGA 775. Quad core works in the computer I put it in. That was a Dell inspiron 560. When I put the Core 2 Duo in the workstation. The computer will not boot. No error beeps. Nothing. However, the processor works fine back in the 560. Any advice! I really don't want to trash it!

Processor

I cannot find the model number of the processor. I do know that I would like this one. I didn't think it really mattered that much as long as the socket types were acceptable. It worked fine when I put the Quad in the Dell. Why not the Dell's processor in the HP's processor?

Sorry but just because it fits does not mean the BIOS and board supports a CPU. There are uncountable discussions about this but for now you want a CPU that folk have found to work in that desktop.

From the link I gave it looks like 5 CPUs were in that product line. You'll want one of those models.
