Excel question - is this the right place?

I am running Vista and have a problem setting the print area.
Hope I'm in the right place for help.
I highlight from the first line under the A column, but when I check print preview, it shows the entire column line from A through G and the number column from 1 through 125 as well.
I only selected the titles I had entered, not the columns A-G, but noticed that as I do so, the number column and the A-G automatically highlight as well.
How do I print only starting under A with the 1st line?

Believe you have to highlight the area to be printed, then

go to 'Set Print Area' (this designates what's to be printed, then go to Print and Print Preview.

All you've done so far is highlight.... but not set the print area.

Give it a try.

As always, you guys are the most helpful with your fast replies!

I had already done all you suggest, and here is what I did wrong:
On Page Set up under Sheet and then Print
I had checked the Row and Column headings.
I redid the entire spread sheet and kept going back to Print Review
over and over to see when the changed occurred and what I had
done just before to cause the unwanted result.
So now I have a sheet that will print just the way I want it and I have
learned a bit more about Excel 2007.

Print Preview is just that. You want "Print Selected Area"

And my bet is Print Preview may not support that. But you can select the area you want, click File, Print and select "Print Selected Area" (or similar.)
