Manage updates with the Download App
New to this site and forums in general. Having trouble getting Windows Security essentials to automatically scan, and automatic updates to run. My computer is always hibernating during the night, I created a scheduled task to wake the computer up by loading cmd.exe. I then set the virus software, and the auto updates to run. I allowed two hours to run the tasks, then then the computer goes back to sleep by running a batch file that I created. Computer wakes up and goes to sleep just fine, but the virus scan and update will not run. I'm not experianced with computers so any help would be great. Running Windows 7 32bit on an Acer Aspire AX1300 Desktop PC.

I see a support link at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download but when apps like this don't work, I replace them.

Thanks for the reply. I completely removed security essentials and reinstalled, still won't automatically do a virus scan.

This is a Microsoft product. I don't want to upset you but they aren't known for product quality. And as this is broken, and there are other antivirus apps out there why stick with busted?

What anti virus software would you recommend? I went from AVG to Security Essentials.

AVG somehow interfered with the Windows 7 Snipping Tool so I ejected that and put on Avast. A few settings later to tell it's popups to vanish in 1 second and I'm OK with Avast. I'm sure folk may not like this or that but it's doing OK here. I'll keep this post to my personal stories this round.
