windows picture and fax viewer icon

all of my icons on my Start Menu and on my desk top appear as "windows picture and fax viewer icon". And when I try to open a program, almost any program it opens up my "windows picture and fax viewer". I believe this all started when my wife was trying to download some photos from our camera one day on to the computer.. Can anyone help

Use System Restore

You can use System Restore to go back to a date prior to the start of the problem. Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Restore. Click the box that says show more restore points.

I had no restore point previous to this problem. I have had this issue for quite some time now.

Since restore isn't an option

you get to change the association for each program.
