Old hard drive problems

So I pulled the hard drive out of my Dell Studio 15 laptop, which is a Seagate Momentus 7200 320Gb hard drive. The only problem is that the startup files are corrupted and I don't need the Dell any longer. Now, I have an HP Pavilion g7 laptop, and I purchased an Apricorn brand "SATA Wire 3.0". Upon plugging the hard drive in to my USB port, Windows automatically installed the driver for it. I have checked, and this is the newest driver. I know the old drive is operational, because i can hear it gently humming. Now here's where the problem arises: I can't see the drive in My Computer. I have lots of files that I would like to bring over to my new laptop. I also have tried the Control Panel approach through the Disk Manager or whatever it's called, and it says that it is unable to initialize the hard drive. I have looked over countless forums and help pages and have yet to find anything of use. Please Help! Thank you. -Crow
