Windows Media Center- Internet TV

Hey Guys,

So im running Windows 7 Prof., and I recently set up windows media center, and noticed that under the TV section, i did not have the internet TV icon. I read a bunch of forums, and most of the suggestions indicated that you simply need to (1) test an internet conection and download any updates under the task section or (2) they don't offer internet tv outside of the U.S.

Well to solve the last problem first, I am a resident of the USA so that is not a problem. As for the first solution, I have tried it many times to no avail. I have tested my internet connection multiple times, and updated any known updates for WMC under the task section, but i never receive the internet TV icon that im looking for. If anyone has a solution id be estatic to hear it. Thanks guys.

Microsoft has a history of abandoning products, product features and in this discussion I thought this was clear by now.

Here we are with dozens of posts and try as I might to get an idea of what you would consider Internet TV so I could find some replacements it is clear to me that you want the original offering.

Sorry, but I know of no replacement product today. The addon I offered gave back some of it.

TV Tuner For Internet Tv:

I thuink you do have to have a tuner for internet TV because the Windows Media Center configuration install the internet on the machine after it configures your regular tuner channels. It adds them on at the end and give them a tuner locationI beleive like channel 10002, 1003 etc.

Just a few months ago it was sent away or thrown under the bus. Your choice on which you want to call it.

I hope the add on I linked to still works but as all the agreements reset almost yearly you find such things vanish, come back and morph over and over.

I also had the same issue. I have a newly install Win 7 Pro that's nice and clean, and no luck getting the icon to install internet TV. I've read everything under the sun, and come to find out. Microsoft has discontinued this feature back in September of 2012. I'm not trying to find out ways to manually install this feature. No luck yet. I know many don't feel that it's useful. I for one find it useful it's an easy way to bring most of the internet video content with one tool, without having to install yet another application. If anyone has any solutions please let me know thanks.

Since this feature relies on Microsoft's services on their servers that are now gone, how would you replace that?

I can only guess that you are unaware that there is more to this than installing it.

-> I really tried to see what you felt this was so I could think of a replacement but it appears that's not acceptable. Let's hope you don't lose too much time in this blind alley.
