Sound problem

Hi,
Got sound on my computer but if I play a video I get sound but no speech sounds.
I am currently running win 7

I heard a similar complaint and it turned out they had downloaded some video off the net and it was a bum video. Another time the video had only 5.1 sound and your PC often only does stereo.

It's amazing folk download video and then think something is wrong with their PC. Good news for the PC repair industry.

Sorry but that is not the answer as some videos play fine. The one that does not work on the computer works fine on the DVD I copied from it earlier.

I can't guess the answer given so little detail. You say it was copied from DVD but imagine if the audio was 5.1 and your average PC only has stereo.

The issue goes back to the person who copied the DVD.

Back in the day, with earlier OS's I'd say this was a codec issue, so download the AVI codec pack. With this issue I'm thinking, since apparently this happens with burned media it is either pilot error or maybe he needs to use something different for burning and/or playback. As you said a little more detail might help.

My question would be, what are you using as a player in the system? If you haven't, you might want to download and try VLC player to see if that might not resolve the playback issue(s).
