CNET installs borderline virus - Funmoods browser hijacker

What are you at CNET thinking?

I just downloaded the CNET downloader and it installed the "funmoods" browser hijacker. This software is basically a virus to any normal user - I am an IT guy and had to spend 10 minutes uninstalling it from Internet explorer, resetting my homepage and default search provider, removing it from chrome, uninstalling it from my computer...

I am now never going to visit your site (for fear that visiting it will install bloatware) and consider anything from your site to be completely untrustworthy.

What a blatant money grab, I hope you get all that you deserve CNET from having such disregard for your customers.

Just recommended to management that any and all cnet.com traffic is blocked from all our corporate networks due to possible bloatware/browser hijacking behaviour. Approved this morning so you just lost another 4500 users.

just to add in my 2 cents worth.. i'm not an IT person and it took me 3 days to fix this funmoods crap. totally crashed internet explorer. i'll never trust cnet again.

I wrestled for days with this pesky piece of crapware a month ago. When I saw CNET download added it, I was livid.
What in the hell are they thinking. I'm outta here too!

Its a little worrying as I am always dowloading stuff and this **** keeps coming back but not sure where from. Frankly even if its not you thats at fault if you are supporting it and your silence in this thread suggests you are, I will be following suit with the other guys above. By the way I am a CIO responsible for 250 developer seats, and about 16000 users - rock on CNET
