Blue lines on white areas of monitor

I have an Asus laptop and have recently turned it on to find thin blue lines less than a millimeter apart running vertically on most white areas of my screen, but nowhere else. The lines disappear when a color is involved and some shades of white are not effected either.

I can place my cursor somewhere on the lines and a shadow under the curser changes the lines back to white, but only directly under the curser. Some white areas, on google for example, are not lined, like some sponsored google links, which ma be a different hue of white.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this? It's very annoying as MS Word pages are filled with this aqua-blue mess.

On the cheaper displays you see such. If it is new, and this is a deal breaker, break the deal and return it.

There are two areas besides software that can cause this. For a test run to see if it's hardware I boot up UBUNTU and play with the machine awhile. No instal, plenty of tutorials so no more from me about this test.

Next it's either the LCD or the motherboard. Ask a laptop repair tech to look at your laptop to see which they think it is and then see if it's worth doing.

Does moving the screen, physically, have any effect on the situation? If it has an effect, that may put a different light on the problem, possible intermittent connection, if not, As Mr. Proffitt stated, issue on MB, video related.
