The power switch on this vg2230wm won't shut the monitor off. Is this a capacitor problem?

Google with general search term bad caps.

BAD CAPS here: http://www.badcaps.net/

Look at the power supply for the monitor to check. It is inside the case.

It is either that or the power switch is defective.

Why I ask is if the button that goes to the pushbutton switch is stuck ON or closed then what you say makes sense.

Now do you own an Ohm meter to go check that out? Or are you without the usual repair tools?

Bob: the switch clicks and isn't stuck. It just doesn't shut the display off. Right now the monitor is powered up and runs constantly. Two days ago it took 10 minutes before the monitor woke up. Before it did, there was a dim orange light in the center of the on-off button that flickered dimly. Then it turned bright blue and then the display appeared. I can dig up an ohm meter. What do you suggest?

That's why I have to put the Ohm meter across the switch and test it. Pick a tutorial from.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116060 under specs notes a 3 year warranty. Before you open it up, maybe it's not yours to fix?
