Changing user name

How do you change the User name on a Windows 7 HP computer? I'm talking about when you click on Computer / OS(C:) / Users / name with padlock next to it. There is no right click/rename option.
I've already gone to Control Panel / User Accounts / and changed the name there - all I see that does is change the name at the heading of the start menu. I'm thinking it's a registry edit, but what and where?

That's been covered a few times. It's pretty simple.

You head to the control panel, users and create a new user of the name you like.

Then you start using that and copy what you want there.

-> NO! You never rename the folder you asked about!

So by creating a new administrative user account, this creates a new log-in. Transfer corresponding files & folders, then delete original administrator account. Didn't think it was that involved, but that should do it.

Some folk delete their last copy of what they have. COPY content over until you are sure it's OK and you have your backup copies all safe and sound. Oh, the stories you read in this forum about the losses.
