Formatted laptop - now not recognizing wireless

Seems like this is the week for problems ...

I have an old Compaq F572US that I formatted this week. I used the HP recovery disk and have had no problems previously getting everything back on board. This time the wireless light is orange instead of blue even in the on position. I can connect with an ethernet cable but when I disconnect and open the network and sharing ctr I can't even open the wireless asst. link. I've used the control panel with no better luck. Wireless asst doesn't respond at all.

I've reset the modem. Other laptops have wireless connections so I'm guessing there's a problem with the wireless card? I'm not a computer whiz as all of you are, but I can follow instructions. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I went to the HP site and did their troubleshooting. I followed each step for turning on the wireless. No matter what I tried, there was no recognition that any wireless is installed. Windows mobility center doesn't even have an icon for wireless as they indicated it should.

The wireless had been working fine prior to the format. I formatted because it was running slowly and hadn't been done in over a year.

As instructed I opened the device manager, went to network adapters and on properties/general it states it's
working . I went to the advanced tab. Settings are as follows; Flow Control - disabled, Interrupt Moderation -
Enable, Low Power State Link Speed - Enabled, Network Address - not present, Property and VLAN - Priority enable,
Speed and duplex Settings - Auto Negotiation, VLAN id - 1, WakeonLAN from power off -enabled.

I've updated the driver. I'm stumped.

This model is a kin to the v2000 line and I find dead wifi cards all the time in that line. Did you try some USB wifi card?

Check under the device mgr. if the wifi card has no red/yellow flags. If so, then correct that. If you need to get the driver from the HP support website and reload it. Excluding any h.w fault with it as I assume it worked before you did the reformat. Once all done, reboot and check results. if fault still present, then as stated to you, an ext. USB one is a good replacement.
