Internet explorer won't open some websites

Hi, I have just got a samsung ultrabook with Norton antivirus and internet explorer. For some reason some websites won't open i.e. HSBC, National geographic etc. I have tried turning off some of the firewall protection with no effect, and I have installed Firefox which wouldn't open any websites so I have uninstalled it again.

What am I missing? sad

Could be the protection software.

With security settings that high or Norton you find this does happen. I found Norton and McAfee to still protect even when set to off. Since it did that I never use their software since that problem was found. So it's time for you to decide how to solve this. Some folk return laptops over this.

I'll bet you are right, have had the same types of issues with security settings, specifically F/W especially when working against Norton 360, so if that is what he is running he might want to rethink and go to a different A/V package.

I am not entirely sure what I did but having applied a tonne of updates and redownloading the latest version of firefox it seems to be working - at least through firefox
