What did they say when you asked them about this last year?
There are never any guarantees when updating the BIOS and doing that comes with its own 'unwritten' health warning.
It would be strange for a m/b to be fried though. But then I am no technical expert.

The caveat of "bios updates" are usually posted to anyone trying to do this from the vendor. This is serious business as what is involved can have the ability of making a door stop. However, I never experienced a mtrbd. being fried or worse some electrical fault as it were. Provided everything was correct in bios update, following instructions and doing whatever is explained and the end result is a fried mtrbd., then In IMO sometime else was at work here. Alas, all you can do is inform Toshiba and keep a record of this experience. Sometimes, yeah sometimes a "class action lawsuit" follows due similar outcomes and the manufacturer has to follow some corrective response or value. However, that won't be on a timely basis, just keep the paperwork available.
