Mac video compression

I bought a used Power Mac G4 with Final Cut Pro installed. I have a few Quick Time 22G films I would like to compress to MPEG2 format and burn to DVD. The FCP on my Mac has no option to compress to MPEG2 format. What stand alone compression software would work with the old G4 and FCP 5. Anyone have a clue? Thank you. PBG

I have helped folk before with MPEG2 compression and they get royally upset when they have the MPEG2 file and it's time to make the DVD they discover that it gets recompressed to the Video DVD standard.

One friend decided they were going to manually create the DVD from scratch. I heard later they took about 4 months or more to figure it all out.

Didn't FCP have Video DVD creation in it's system?
