Dell Dimension 2400

I have a dell dimension 2400 that the hard drive went bad I replaced the drive. I can't find the boot disc that came with the computer. It let me install windows XP but it won't do anything when i go to control panel add remove hardware their is no programs or hardware in it. It is blank.. Do you know where I can get a disc like the one that came with the computer when it was new? Thank you Carman4236

Since you obviously have Internet access, just grab the service tag off the unit, go to Dell's support site, there will be a place to enter in the service tag, and that will take you to where you can download the necessary drivers for your system. Often times they're a bit out of date, but it'll at least get you started.

That's a physical action, adding or removing hardware, not something you do in Control Panel. That's only for software.

What software was there that disk? The most likely place to get it is Dell Customer Service. Or you search or ask for it on eBay or a comparable site. But, depending on what software it was exactly, you might be able to download it all, either from dell.com or from some other site.

Give Dell a call and see if they have a Factory Restore Disc/s you can buy.

Yes......it will cost a few bucks and you will have to wait a few days to get it.

Pop it into the optical unit........boot it up.......follow the menu.
