New PC - 'No signal detected '

Hey all,
I got a custom built PC and monitor yesterday. It came with no DVI cable or HDMI cables so I went out and bought some.
Once connected I get a message on my monitor saying ' no signal detected ' . This happens for both the HDMI and DVI. All cables are connected fine and I have double checked them over and over.
Also, the PC seems to shut itself off after a few minutes.
Im going to go crazy. Whats the problem?
Monitor : BenQ 22inch LCD MOBO : AsusP8H67-M Pro M-ATX Video Card : ATI Radeon 1GB HD6870

This is a warranty issue.

It doesn't display and it auto shuts off. Both bad signs.

Call the maker/supplier and ask what to do next.
