computer restarting on its own ..help plssssss

ok so i downloaded kaspersky anti virus which my kind bank sent me free to protect my identity etc..i downloaded and installed it and now my computer keeps restarting soon as i try to access the internet...if i just play a game or do anything else the computer is fine...i have windows xp and service pack 3 and this computer is only 8 months old..pls help

iv now turned off the anti virus and it lets me access my net fine..but i dont want to use it incase i get another virus..what can i do

Use something else. If Kaspersky doesn't play nicely with your computer, try something else.

Is there some other antivirus programs installed along with kaspersky? Sometimes if their are two antivirus program running at the same time, they contradict each other. make sure that other antivirus software are completely uninstalled from your computer. However,if kasperky is the only one running on your system, then even I think that you should go for some other virus if it is failing somehow.

i have taken out kaspersky now and put avg back in..and no more problems with shutting down or restarting..fingers crossed.. and thanku for ur advice and help very much appreciated
