Did you disable scripting by chance? Most of these idiotic user-agent sniffing things are scripts, and then if they don't run for some reason, the default message is what you're seeing. Otherwise, start looking at any add-ons you may have installed. If none stand out as obvious candidates disable all of them and then restart the browser. If things work better, then enable the add-ons one by one, testing each time before enabling the next one, and then rinse and repeat until you find the problem add-on. If you're still getting nowhere after that, feel free to come back and someone'll take another crack.
However, just as kind of a PSA type deal... You really should avoid using Internet Explorer for anything other than those one or two odd sites that absolutely will not work with anything else, and you cannot find this content anywhere else. It's just too unsafe a browser to be using for prolonged periods. You will, sooner or later, pick up malware. No matter how careful you are, one day you'll get sloppy and that'll be the day you open the flood gates so to speak.
