Computer help forum: OS 7 installed & no webcam now

yes a clean installation was done. he wiped the old os 7 n put in a new one. i don;t know how to install a driver... is it complicated or simple?

Steps:
1. Download the right driver(s) or program(s) from the makers site.
2. Run it.
3. Reboot.
Done.

Step 1 definitely is easier if you have something like a "driver and utilities disk". Saves you the search for the right drivers and programs.

i just installed it n restarted my pc, went to the webcam n it says none found. wth??

Maybe you need to install some more drivers. What does Device Manager say about the webcam?

If you can't get it working, your next step is Acer customer service. They should be able to tell you what to download. If they support that webcam for Windows 7 on this laptop.

- Why, by the way, did you have Windows 7 installed?
- What was installed before that?
- Do you have a system recovery disc (to go back to factory conditions)?

-- i don't have a recovery disk. i asked a guy who works w data recovery if he could wipe n then install os 7 and he did but he didn't load everything back to how it was before. i
guess i have to contact acer customer support then. cz i dont know wth is going on.

the imaging device is Lexmark X422
the location of it is unknown
it says its up to date. but the device cannot start (code 10)

http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=1245 is interesting because there are 6 web cam drivers.

I don't see any instructions on how to use a self installed Windows OS.
