Photo Gallery installer

Hi there,

I have installed System Mechanic 10 on my dads PC, once it had done the repairs that needed doing it restarted and now every time it loads Windows, it comes up with windows installer, trying to install a program call photo gallery.

I have asked my dad about it and no one knows where it came from, and it will try prevent installation of new programs and there doesn't seam to be any way round it.

What I have done:

I have run several antivirus scans with no results, including Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes.

I have looked for it with both add/remove programs and CCleaner - can't find anything

I have done some research and I have read that it is some type of virus.

The machine runs Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit

I don't know what else to try as I really want to avoid re-installing Windows if I can

Please can someone help

I do know this is what is called a "pending install."

To fix it I find myself looking for Microsoft's Installer Cleanup Utility. Let's see where they have that today?

The old app has been hidden away so let's hope this spots that Photo Gallery app and lets you remove it.

So no need for such an app. Also if it did I have a giant assistant to pitch in. You may have read papers by them but let's toss one out there so you know how I like to dig into such issues.
