Have them install some remote access app.

You see remote desktop is built in. You have other apps like VNC as well.

I have her user id and password for email, but not her entire computer. I wish to get her certain websites and put it on her desktop. Also, I want to download some stuff for her to use plus give a hand when her computer gets out of whack. She's a total idiot and I can't keep going over to her place to do things and teach. Thanks.

So why not the sink or swim approach?

I've found that if you continue to hold hands they never learn to swim on their own.

Today I think such users might be better off with an iPad. It's much simpler on users.
