Answer Best answer as chosen by user Nerfboy Computer Screen not communicating with PC
I had something similar happen with a Samsung Syncmaster (though it was a couple years old). The screen would be black, although the power button was on. It also wouldn't wake from sleep after a while or would take 20 min to 1/2 hour.
Turned out my issue was with the monitor. It was either something in the monitor or the monitor cable. I happened to have an extra monitor (Planar), so I swapped them out and my problem was solved. My current monitor has no issues whatsoever. Mind you, I had tried everything before the swap-out. I triple checked all the connections, I chaged and re-changed my power options in control panel, I tried everything I could find to try and nothing worked.
Do you know anyone that could let you try their monitor with your PC just to check if it works or not? If another monitor does work, then you know there's some issue with the Samsung. However, since yours is only 6 months old, you should definitely contact them. It should be under warranty. Be warned, though, that trying to get warranty service through a manufacturer can be quite painful and may get you nowhere. I've had to go through mfr's for a couple things and couldn't get resolutions. One of them, being a TV, I had to go to an outside source (well-known) for help, who contacted them, then suddenly my issues were getting fixed and responded to.
