short cuts not working

hello all - after installing a malware program my laptop (running Win7) suffered. With some difficulty, I uninstalled it but its legacy was to de-activate 'short-cuts'. Suggestions please as to how to re-activate 'short-cuts'. I have run two malware progs, a registry clean and a System Restore to a week back. thanx - pcwoe

One way to do this

You can make them yourself. You didn't mention if the programs were in your start menu but, if they are, you can copy/paste these to your desktop. You can also create a new shortcut on your desktop and navigate to the executable file for each program. Tedious, but it works.

thanks Steven - the shortcuts could be anywhere on the pc / task bar / desktop / folder - wherever it was, it didn't work. However, after searching for and trying a few possible solutions, the shortcuts have mysteriously come good.
The only thing I tried was Microsoft 'linkfile-fix'. It said it found no problems to fix - but then the shortcuts worked ?
So I don't know if that's what fixed 'em but I'm not complaining. Others have said that this problem comes and goes, so I just hope they stay fixed.

Just a word of advice in case it happens again (that you may already know) - run your Malware cleaner in Safe Mode and you have a much greater chance of wiping out whatever is in your system.

Yes it is. If you think about it, it is better to always clean your system with minimum programs running, otherwise the virus / malware has more oppurtunity to hide itself
