Flashing 'busy' with pointer is really annoying...

MB is an Asus M4A78T-E which has an integrated ATI Radeon HD 3300 video. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit as OS. I just installed a new AMD Radeon HD 6850 video card and for some reason my pointer now has the 'busy' spinning circle sign constantly flashing. The pointer works okay though. I uninstalled and re-installed the Logitech wireless mouse M310 and their Set Point software 3 times. Still flashes and does the same with Windows 'busy' sign, an hour glass. Even tried using a wired Track Ball mouse and flashing persists.
What would cause this and is there a fix?

Clarification request: Did you try it without the Logitech software?

And did you examine what's running as well as research each item in a report such as Hijackthis shows?

No instant fix.

That is, there is no known instant fix short of reloading the OS and skipping all optional items such as that Logitech software. It's something but without popping the hood and reading log files and more, there is no instant fix.

Sounds as if there is something running, first is to check in task manager to see what is shown as active and end the process(es). Control/Alt/DEL task manager, etc.

Just finished updating the drivers for the recently installed AMD HD6850 video card and after restart the whirling circle with cursor did not appear. A Google search mentioned that the problem of the flashing 'busy' indicator might be that something is waiting to be opened and is stuck even with restarts and booting. So...maybe...the new card didn't finish installing?

I did use Task Manager and unchecked 'Windows Search' as was mentioned in possible solutions. But that didn't help. It appears that installing driver updates might have carried through the incomplete original install?

Bob, I did try uninstalling Logitech and used windows mouse settings, no change. Still blinked.

Flashing is back...

Yesterday after restart from driver update the flashing 'busy' was gone. This morning it is back. Evidently something is still waiting for download, open, whatever.

Thanks for the link, didn't stop the cursor blink.

To look further, my method.

When I see this issue I look at log files from say, Hijackthis. Then I look at each entry to see if I need it. Often I find it but for now it will be a mystery.
