ppr.exe - is this a virus?

Hello!

While searching for a file in My Documents I came across a fie called ppr.exe. I have never seen this file before. Is this a virus or something that I should get rid of?

File names generally aren't a very good indicator for anything.

Did you or anybody that uses the computer download it?

If you have an Antivirus suite installed on your system, then you can probably right-click the file and scan it with your antivirus software, if it comes back clean then there probably isn't anything to worry about.

If it isn't anything you are using, why not just delete it anyways?

you might get some clues from its LOCATION. f it is located in a path such as C:\Downloads it is probably something you downloaded.

If it is located in a path something like "C:\Program Files\purple passion reviews" then it probably has something to do with that application.

If you locate the file (search for it) and right click it and look at its properties it might indicate something about Primetime Podcast Receiver then it is a process file from company Lance Robinson belonging to product Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Operating System.

thank you both for taking the time to respond.

the file suddenly appeared in My Documents. i save all my work to this location so i know exactly what is in there and then this file suddenly appeared. i didnt even want to take a chance and right click on it for fear of "activating" it!!! happy ...is that possible or am i being overly cautious?

i have avg and malwarebytes' anti-malware....i will scan with both and see
