computer fan runs a LOT

I have a Compaq HP Presario desktop with 32 bit Vista. Model SR5350F. Of late the fan seems to be running a lot. I sprayed around the fan with compressed gas but the noisy fan continues. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Fans do wear out, make more noise.

It's not uncommon. Most of us wait till it fails or we can't stand the noise.

dirty work!

I just had that same problem in my Dell Dimension 3000.
the tech that checked it found that I had all of the vent holes plugged and the entire fan area filled with dust sheep (BIG dust bunnies) and cat hair. he opened up the case and vacuumed and q-tipped all the fan and cooling areas. he also reminded me NEVER to place my CPU on the floor on CARPET. so I placed it on a spare shelf and clear of walls. I have not been able yet to get the cat to stop sleeping on top of the CPU but since cleaning the fan rarely runs and is very quiet.

Since I sprayed the openings with the compressed gas it SEEMS to not be as noisy. I don't dare open he case myself..God knows what I might do. A technician told me a few years ago to not set the unit on then carpeted floor so I sat it on a small table ....

I tried my own "canned air" as with you it helped a little. check your local Staples about a serious cleaning or whoever you like. best of luck to you.
