I have an old Dell GX280 tower that I bought refurb that has fan troubles. On start up the CPU fan takes off and continues to ramp up untill its absolutely screaming!
No big deal except that the wife had a boat load of pics on the hard drive that I need to get off. I try'ed all the easy stuff. Cleaned everything out and replaced the heat sinc pad. I would go into the bios or whatever to check the fan config and maybe reset something but I think its gonna smoke something if I let that fan run that hard while I'm messin with it. If I could just get it running long enough to get the pics on to a flash drive we could gladly retire the tower. Just wondering if anyone knew of a trick or had some suggestions.
No big deal if not... I can take the hard drive to the puter store and get the pics that way. BTW, do I need to take them the whole tower or can I just take the hard drive?
thanks
