Computer help forum: home theatre pc not working through 4 x 2 hdmi matrix

Was this due to better capabilities or s/w from the new video card? Or more that some missing feature actually supports what is needed due to arrangement being tried.

I ask, because this is getting to be a problem for myself as more users have so much of this or that and trying to make the last link work. Either it works or is so poor, it really doesn't. of course, the other side of this, things just work from git. Also, I found some bandwidth won't provide access beyond the actual provided setup. Your reply tells me you may not have heard of HDCP and how it comes into play and how no driver can fix that.

Then again, it could be as bad as the person that ran 50 foot HDMI cables and wondered why it didn't work.

I've come to this conclusion that once you leave the box and its bandwidth how it gets treated. Coming across setups that worked and then the "new toy" is installed, where I come in. I get called upon as the "tech guy" and find, everything under the sun maybe involved, I'm sure you know my point. I just review the manual and go forth but find that some setups won't and maybe its this HDCP. Which it seems takes time to come across when the "no signal" display yet does in another 5-15secs..

I consider that an issue with the box and how the bandwidth gets distributed. So, I'm coming from the back-end thinking of what may work or not. The whole point being that all those goodies just may not work *all* together or one side of it gets hosed. Oh well.... -----Willy

Thanks for the reply. What feature / specificstion in a new video card do I need to look for?
My current video is hdmi on board the main board.

Why?

To discuss this we have to first discuss HDMI, then HDCP then Intel (the company) and how the HDCP handshake is "in the HDMI chips."

Once we are through all that you realize that it should work but tell me this. Is Intel's "code" in those chips perfect?

It's not and why we swap cards when this happens.
