Clicking on Google search result brings me back to Google?

I have Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit. And running Firefox 11.0.

When I start from the Firefox Google search start page and search for something and click on the link, I get redirected to Google's real homepage. Then when I click back, it takes me back to Firefox's Google search start page, not the Google results page.
Other times, when I click on Google result links, Firefox does nothing, no loading, nothing. However, when I right-click and open with new tab, it actually opens and loads the webpage on the new tab.
Why does this happen? I am guessing that this is a problem with Firefox. I scanned with MSE and have no viruses. No proxies running either. This does not happen with IE9 and Chrome on the same computer.
Thanks.
