on EXACTLY what all is going on when you get the "not responding" error (like what browser, how many windows, WHAT URL and what you are doing at that URL as these things paint a better picture of what is actually happening - listening to a youtube video in one window while playing a game in another window requires more from your PC than just filling in a form and no other window open for instance.

Whichever browser you are using how about trying another to see if it performs better. You might try Chrome or Opera or Firefox (or if you have the room on your drive you could try ALL of them) to see which performs best for you on your PC.

You mention Ad-Ware which I assume means you are using Ad-Aware by Lavasoft. It isn't much recommended these days and if using its Adwatch it can cause some conflicts.

At the other post recommends uninstall either the Microsoft Anti-Virus application or the Panda Anti-Virus as they are pretty much guaranteed to conflict and such conflicts can definitely cause slow performance and unresponsive applications.

As Jimmy noted your Semperon is a single core CPU and like the Atom CPU used in many netbooks can "sort of" handle multi-processing but is really best at doing only one thing at a time.

You also didn't mention how much RAM your computer has and although the normal MINIMUM requirement is 1 GB for 32 bit Windows the Starter and Basic versions can and have been installed on machines with 512 meg with resultant performance problems - what version of Windows do you have on the computer?

From the looks of it you have the following things working against you:

- Single core CPU, which is also a low end budget CPU to just add a little insult to injury
- It looks like you have two AV programs running, which is always a recipe for trouble
- All the other anti-pest stuff you have running will bog down a single core CPU pretty quickly
- The process scheduler in Vista was rewritten to basically assume a dual core CPU, and since Windows 7 is just a warmed over Vista, all Microsoft did was further tweak the process scheduler to be more multi-core friendly instead of multi-CPU friendly (there is a subtle, but very important, difference)

I'd start by picking either Panda's or Microsoft's AV software and dumping the other one. Then you can probably eliminate all the other garbage programs if you just stopped using Internet Explorer. Provided you aren't one of those people who downloads things off of file sharing networks, blindly clicks on any link sent to them via email, or things of that general nature, you should see at least SOME relief. However, at the end of the day you bought what appears to be a laptop from the low end of low end laptops. So you're just going to have to accept that there are certain limitations at the hardware level. You can't expect prime rib when you have a dog food budget.

Nope. My suggestion regarding getting rid of one AV program will help, but ultimately you have a low end laptop even by low end laptop standards, and no amount of software is going to overcome that. You basically have a choice between accepting your fate and moving on, or buying a better laptop.

Plus virtually every program that claims to be some miracle cure for fixing various Windows programs is a scam that does absolutely nothing if you're lucky, and makes things even worse if you're not so lucky.
