Universal Audio Drivers?

Hi,

I recently helped my brother reformat his Gateway GT5040. I understand that after you reformat, you need to go to the manufacturer's website go get the drivers, but they don't exist. I put in the model, select Windows XP 64 Bit Edition, and then there are no audio drivers. I've contacted Gateway several times and they won't provide any help because the warranty expired. Is there any driver that could substitute Gateway's? Any help is appreciated.

None I've ever found. It's a shame you picked XP64

Why not use the OS that came with the Gateway?

are for both 32 bit and 64 bit and the setup selects the correct version.

Read through this page (because the audio on your computer is Sigmatel) then go to the following page and try a few of the Windows XP drivers listed -

You might also try the Hardware Vendor Detection Utility on this page:
