Changing Yahoo email address to new one

I'm recently divorced & my Yahoo email address was gramatically linked to my marriage & family.
How do I change my old one to a new one without losing all my email , contacts & all the other info?

With an actual email client like Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or such? Or do you use the web based client?

If you use an email client, then changing is as simple as changing it. All the "stuff" you ask about are stored in the email client software on the PC. Have you gone to the !Yahoo email help pages?

If you just mean your "Display name" then that can easily be changed in the email software you use. I am unsure if that can be changed in web based email addresses.

But if you mean that your email address itself is in a format you must change then I suspect that cannot be done at least not by you. eg, my display name on my email address is MarkFlax, but my email address is in the form, myname@myisp.com . Since I use Thunderbird I can change my display name in the settings itself. But my ISP controls my email address name and I can't change that. If that's the case with you then you must approach Yahoo Mail to ask them if they can do it.

They most likely will say they cannot, (it isn't easy), so your best bet is simply to create a new email account, and when it is up and running, forward all the emails you want to keep from the old to the new, and then send everyone you want to know your new address an email letting them know.

Exporting contacts may be easier. I have a Yahoo.UK page below that explains how;

You may have a similar page for where you are, but the process should be the same.
