"An error occurred in the script on this page" HELP

Hello all , This has been happening on our Toshiba Laptop for a couple of weeks now. We use Windows 7 w the 64 bit on this PC.

"An error occurred in the script on this page Line- Char- Error -Code- URL Do you want to continue running on this page?"

This box pops up variably every day ,,in fact it popped up twice while opening up CNET forums. Additionally, the laptop seems to be running a little slower. I have used the Disc cleaner twice and defraged it as well. Please help folks-thank you

Hey there Coryphaeus, we use Internet Explorer. Would we have to update it?

No need to update. It are just settings.

In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and uncheck the box that says it should report script errors. Then it won't any more. If it doesn't help enough, there's another checkbox about disabling error checking. That should be checked.

make sure you have JAVA updated and current:
http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

Next, after making sure JAVA is current follow Kees instructions to disable the console and script error messages.

64 bit Windows has both 32 bit Internet Explorer and the 64 bit Internet Explorer and the proper JAVA and updates have to be installed for the version you are using.

Sorry to ALL for delay in responding. Kees your advice did the trick..Problem SOLVED. I will update my Java now if it is in need to.
