Speakers not working properly... HELP!!

Background info:

MSi X58 Pro-E
Realtek HD Audio Drivers
i7 930

Ok I recently got a brand new set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers.I set it all up correctly, connections are good and secure etc.

When I ran the logitech sound test (a button on included remote)... I get sound out of all the speakers + sub.

When I set my sound preferences via Win7, my Left front speaker now doesn't emit any sound. I swapped speakers etc and tried again and still whatever speaker is set to the Left Front position does not make any sound.

Now... when I play videos/movies via VLC, I lose sound out of everything EXCEPT the Right front speaker.

But then I tried playing SC2 and after setting my audio to 5.1, I get sound out of all speakers from EXCEPT my Left Front again.

My drivers are up to date etc....

I don't know what to do. Treat me like a noob cause I am =P HELP ME!!!

It appears like the jack connection from computer to speaker system is wonky. Most of the sound tests are run using an internal signal that lies within the speaker system itself.. Therefore, it tests fine but because the jack doesn't connect as designed, the sound from the computer never reaches the speakers.

Try unplugging, then replugging in the speakers to the green jack on the back of the computer.. If no joy, try borrowing another set of powers speakers and see if they work correctly.. If the second set of speakers work fine, then it probably means the jack on the new wiring isn't working correctly.

That seems to be the problem, I plugged the green connector into the silver connector slot and when I ran the test again all speakers were working properly, so this solves my problem for my left front speaker.

Tomorrow I will attempt to open up my computer and check for any loose connections or something but, if I shouldn't find any... What are my options? Would I need a whole new motherboard?

I would also like to bring to attention though, the faulty green connector may be the culprit for the left front speaker.... that still leaves my problem of my 5.1 speakers working at stereo mode for regular windows programs (Win Media Player/VLC/iTunes).

Whenever I run the above mentioned programs, I am NOT getting sound from my center speaker, and L/R rear speakers.

I have set my sound preferences to 5.1 and the speakers do work properly when running my tests. Those speakers also do work when I run SC2 as well.

Don't have 5.1 media files so they don't fire up the other 3 speakers.
