College network problem

Hi, over the summer, at home, I downloaded this new music program called Spotify. It's an amazing application and I suggest you all download it.
It's a streaming service that allows you to stream unlimited music, for free. If you want, you can pay money to download the mobile app for the program and play that unlimited music on your phone and offline.
The way you sync the music on your phone is you have to open the program on both your phone and computer at the same time, and be on the same network.
At home, obviously, syncing was not a problem. But, now, I'm back at college and my college's network. Even though my phone and computer are on the college's network, I cannot sync my music. I contacted support and they said it may be because of the way the network is setup. They said their network is on several different networks and that does not work.
So, I thought, fine, I'll just create an ad-hoc connection and that will work. Unfortunately, however, my phone is an Android phone and Android does not support ad-hoc.Now, before any of you say anything. I know I can root the phone; been there, done that. It did not work.
So, I'm wondering if any of you can help me find a solution to my problem. I've tried googling, but nothing helps. Again, I paid for this application so I would like to be able to sync music to my phone. Thanks in advance for any help.
