Thank you for your useful response. I quite nearly dismissed it as garbage, as the first bit (and the subject line) have much in common with the many useless comments one encounters in such near-forensic pursuits.

The process that concerned me is indeed located in \Program Files (x86)\Expat Shield\bin (same publisher, intended more for UK expats requiring home proxy than for obfuscation of torrenting et alia).

This process causes Task Manager to return a blank in the column headed Image Path Name -- which is normally an ominous sign -- but right-clicking on the entry invokes a context menu with Open File Location as the first available selection.

Elements of your response -- including your specific knowledge of the product and your use of wildcard characters in describing path variables -- lead me to suspect you may be involved in the programming of the product, in which case I'd like to thank you very much.

Do you happen to know whether:
• Expat Shield can operate effectively without devoting resources to FBW.exe, or

• Whether FBW.exe can be invoked independently for the purposes of obfuscation? </div>

Why would I even bring it up if I weren't enough to cause annoyance?
