"Download" or "Install"?

The error message "Unable to initialize installer GUI" usually only happens when you're trying to "install" a program.. Which is it?

And more importantly, which operating system are you having issues with? Make and model number?

If you're having problems installing things, then there are a few possibilities..

1. Decrapifier corrupted the Windows Installer.. If you're using Windows XP or Vista, then try installing the latest Windows Installer for your machine at the link below. If you can't download on your computer, then download the file on a friend or family member's computer, then copy it to a CD or flash drive, then transfer it to the problem machine.:

2. Sometimes, the error you're showing can be the result of malware. If that's the case, then follow the instructions in the link below to scan your computer.

The problem happens during installation. I'm running Vista and I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A355-S6935.

I'm going to try the Windows Installer, thanks! I was stressing out about this all night! I even had a dream of me trying to recover the program I deleted! lmao

I tried your first solution, but it did not work. I then looked around the Microsoft site and found
the Fix It Solution Center. I then ran "Automatically diagnose and fix common problems with Windows Update" and tried to install the programs that were having trouble installing. They installed fine.

Thanks for the help! Without that first suggestion I would have never figured it out!

It sounds like some services and/or registry entries were fouled up with the Decrapifier.. Gladly, they're fixed now.

Known CNET security problem on Windows 7

CNET put ads into its downloader software which security in Windows 7 detects and does not allow.
This appears to be a problem with no fix.
Try getting the software from another source than CNET.

You can still download the installer file without using the CNET downloader.. Try clicking on the link below the "Download now" button so it uses your standard browser downloader..

Below the "Download now" button are only "Save to list" and "Compare". I don't see any link for downloading using my standard browser downloader.

If you click on the name of the program in that list, you go to the detail page of that program. And, it you're logged in as a CNET member, there's the direct download link right below the big green button.

Yep. It installed ok. But when I ran it I got a Memory Access denied message (even when run as administrator). I running 64 bit Windows 7 on an HP dv7-405. This program used to work on my older Dell. Too bad.

64 Bit vs 32 Bit -There's a Difference

Unfortunately, you never told us the name of the program which you're trying to run on Win7.. Make sure you've got the 64 bit version of the program, IF there is one... If there is none, it's possible it simply won't work on the "newer, better" system.
