Copy Full Speed

Hi
I do a lot of copying, from one hard drive to another, iPods, USBs, within the computer etc.
Is there a way to force the computer to speed up the bitrate?
I left something copying last night, and over the whole night it did around 20 GB, out of the 250GB I need this time!

Usb1 does not lend itself to transferring large amounts of data......it's like watching the grass grow.

Usb2 much better......but not great.

Usb3......unknown as I don't have that to test.

E-sata.....which is what I use.......can xfer 15GB in about 5-6 mins.

If your using Usb1 that might be part of the problem.

speed up copy

increase your ram by virtually . ram can be increased upto 6GB by this and this will increase your speed very much.

procedure for vista :
control panel -> performance information and tools -> advance tools -> performance option -> advanced
-> change


and then reboot your system you will see the difference .

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I'm failing to see how increasing virtual memory is going to improve file transfer speeds. Especially since virtual memory uses the HDD, which is at least one of the sources for the data in question, so virtual memory would just further tie up the HDD, slowing things down even more.

Or maybe, somehow, you meant to post this in another thread?
