am not talking about the "third click" Icon.

Do this for me:
go to your desktop and click on it. Then scroll up and down using your touchpad. SO IE glide your finger along the right side of the touchpad. It should get an icon of a xp style scrollbar with a mouse icon on it.

I need to get rid of that icon! any one else?

I didn't understand your first post. It also have some sentences that distracted from what you were trying to ask.

I thought I'd try anyway and sorry that I didn't guess it. Next time try supplying folk with a graphic via photobucket or a web link.

that's very hard to do as every screenshot ever taken on a computer (PC anyway) purposefully leaves out the mouse, and that is the graphic I need to show you

I have furthered my search for the icon, and I have realized that it isn't in any of the common places that it would normally be:

windows/cursors
users/default/appdata (or my-account/appdata)
program files/common files
program files/synaptics

If you are not using a laptop, OR using drivers for the touchpad on your laptop you won't be able to re-produce this icon. Try to find someone with a laptop with synaptics drivers on it, then go to the desktop click on it then use the scrollbar located ON your touchpad. If you do that this icon will show up.

The office has nothing but it seems. And we use the touchpad, some have synaptics some don't.

If you could take a photo of this this thing maybe we can find what it is called. Or if you can find a google that finds its name then we can continue.

since you indicate the older synaptics drivers offer a more suitable icon than the newer drivers would be to contact SYNAPTICS because the icon isw hard coded intor their drivers.

They might have an add on or even a different driver that would make things more palatable for you.

I had this problem too. I managed to solve it by uninstalling Synaptic's generic software and installing the software for my specific computer from the manfacture's website. Mine was this:

I came here with the same problem that magically appeared after I restarted my computer. On Windows 7 do this: Control Panel>Mouse>Device Settings>Settings>Click the scrolling option (make sure it is checked) and click the gears (right next to a question mark) that will open up settings for that feature. Uncheck "Enable Chiral Scrolling" and leave EdgeMotion checked. Effects should automatically apply. Click okay on other window to exit with your settings saved.
This is on a HP laptop runnings Windows 7 and using Synaptics Touchpad v7.0

I just had the same problem as you. Yesterday, I began to have troubles scrollings on pages. I modified things maybe I shouldn't have touched... anyway.

I reinstalled Synaptics and now my mouse can scroll just like before. However, I have the same silly grey annoying circle when I scroll vertically and horizontally too. It is terribly horribly, I want my old scrolling icon back :'(.

Have you found a solution?

I am a light tech savvy...
I found a program called 'Resource Hacker' that mods dll files. I'm going to try and find the right dll to mod.
Ok most likely it's in this dll in the program files: SynTPCpl.dll. Looking to find the right icon...
No luck. I'm going to keep looking in all the dlls. Please inform me if you find anything.

I tried to install and uninstall so many times... I tried the basic service I had on my computer, then I uninstalled and now I am with the newest Synaptics.
