according to dell tech line the only time the screen saver will function is when the wireless mouse is disconected dell model inspiron N4010 brand new with windows 7

By the way, why do you need a screen saver for? It doesn't have a plasma screen or a CRT as far as I can see.

Dell tech line excuse me is actually Dell Support All of my other computers have screen savers sony dell etc. I like screen saver because I run personal photos when it is in screen saver mode as well as wife and daughter

That's easy to check:
- disconnect the wireless mouse and see if it works
- connect the wireless mouse and see that it doesn't work
Assuming they are right, it seems you have 3 options:
1. Learn to live with it.
2. Replace the wireless mouse by a wired mouse.
3. Return the machines if Dell doesn't offer a solution.

There was an arrow on the desktop clicked on it. It read microsoft intellipoint install and problem was solved. Thanks for your help. Hope this information is helpful.

The interesting question: did that wireless mouse come with the Dell when you ordered it, or did you add it yourself.
In the last case, it shows that one should install the drivers when adding new hardware. You can't really blame Dell for not telling you if you didn't tell them.
Anyway, glad to see it's solved.
