Not sure what is happening, some apps work, others don't

Over the past week my computer seems to have gone crazy. I first noticed it on Facebook when one of my Zynga applications would load properly (and still does) but two others will not load. I have also noticed that some addresses will not load into my browser but others do. I can get to some pages but then cannot get further into the same website (my on-line banking for example). I am using a Dell Inspiron 531S with an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.11 Ghz Operating System is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have been using Firefox as my browser but have tried several others since the problem began and they all seem to have the same problem. What could be the problem and how can I fix it?

Lots of suggestions in this forum re the first things you do when your system starts running slowly of acting flakey.

Before putting the blame on your computer, you must check these components first.

ISP - Have you tried contacting your ISP about the problem? You can also ask some of your friends having the same ISP with you and ask if they experience the same problem. If so, then it may be your network.

Browser - Try using other browsers other than the browser that you are currently using. If you can do the thing on another browser then there must be problem with the current one you are using.

Browser plug-ins and add-ons - you can also check your add-ons and plug-ins from your browser or Control Panel and try updating or fixing them (such as Flash plugin, etc.)

Not an ISP issue

It appears to be limited to my computer. My son uses his laptop on the same internet connection and has no problems, and everyone else I know that uses the same applications are not having any problems using them.

My son suggested maybe it is a Javascript issue. I have tried other browsers...I am currently trying Opera and I can get a bit farther into the apps than I could on Firefox but they still won't load and they are the same on Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I have tried updating my flash player...that was actually my first step. Also updated Java but still not working.

I would start scanning for malware.

Try these two often recommended anti-malware scanners; Malwarebytes' Anti-malware and SUPERAntiSpyware.

About Facebook. It seems to be particularly vulnerable to scams and rogue apps.

I actually use Malwarebytes weekly and just did a full scan two days ago
