Digi cam,camcorder, thumb drive files in shortcut mode?

Hello

I have a problem when I connect my camera,camcorder or my thumb drives to my computer I running windows 7,on a Acer 5235..

Anyway when I plug in one of these devices, I go to My computer, and it's there, I then open that device and before I could see my pictures now I have the files there but in Shortcut mode,and when I try and open them it say "cannot open file in vaicel (:F) "
I don't understand it, I can look at the photos on my camera and all the footage on my digi camcorder, but not on the computer,

Can anyone help me please?
