Windows 7 - User Profile will not load error - HELP!

by shelec - 8/21/10 1:55 PM

About 3 months ago, occassionally my user profile would not load (on my Windows 7 laptop). It normally happened if I left my computer on, but not plugged in and it "died" overnight, the next time I logged in, the profile would not load. A full restart and the profile would load.
As time has progressed, it began happening more often and now, I probably only get my profile to load 1% of the time. Half the time I get a blue background with windows logo, half the time I get a black background. When I get the black background, I get an additional error about HTC sync software (which I use sporadically to sync my droid to Outlook).
Previously, when this happened, I would do a restore and it would load the correct profile about 50% of the time for about a week. At this point, all of my restore points are to a point in time where the profile wasn't working...
Upon searching, I tried to use the Microsoft instructions for "Win 7 - Fix a corrupted user profile". But this didn't work for me because (even though all 3 user accounts were administrators), because after copying all the files in the user profile, it said I didn't have access to paste the files into the "new" profile.

Any & all advice is welcome. I am even open to blowing everything on my computer away and starting over (as long as someone can point me to instructions), I would just need to copy off my documents, photos, emails, etc. first.

THANK YOU in advance! I am at the beach and about ready to throw my laptop into the ocean over this. happy
