Yearly activation for post XP Microsoft OS's?

I've heard that you'll have to activate all Microsoft OS's, past XP, on a yearly basis. Is this true?

Royeo,

No, You do not need to reactivate Vista or 7 every year. The only time you will need to is when you have to re-installed the OS.

No, and if you spend a little quality time with Google you will find the specific conditions that will trigger the need to reactivate. None of which are temporal.

I'm encountering malware mostly on owner machines that run torrents, registry cleaners or those that tinker in the registry and WGA (see google) kicks in. So there is a sliver of truth here. But the truth is that it is self inflicted 99.99% of the time.
