Then you have it here. Disable the L1 and L2 CPU cache which slows everything down to where it may run. Remember we are not interested in any other goal than a machine that RUNS.
Since we can't replace motherboard capacitors (time, money!) or the motherboard, CPU (money!) we are left with the usual tweak to drag it back into operation.
Again, the model is well known, the usuals are well known. What is unknown is how long it takes the new technicians and shop owners to learn what machines to never take into the shop.
